A Day in Brighton

Last week I flew to London with my boyfriend to have a little break, to get away from studying mode, to get a change of scene and, most importantly, to see friends and family. So the day after we got to London we decided to do a day trip in Brighton, and spend literally a whole day there. We were there at about 10am till about 6pm and my body definitely felt worn out by the end. It was a really sunny day and what better way to spend a sunny day than at the beach. I had only seen Brighton during the evening a while back and had always wanted to see it during the day. So we went exploring. We found really cute shops, walked along the pier and found a lovely place to eat lunch that I definitely recommend. Unfortunately we ran out of time and didn’t get to see the whole of Brighton, but one day we’ll go back and finish exploring.

So before we started exploring we stopped off at Starbucks to get a cup of coffee. And, as we are still young and childish at heart, we decided to start a new inside joke and come up with different names every time we order a drink at Starbucks. So today I was Lola and my boyfriend was Marcus.

A few photos by the seaside :)

As you can see I did a little shopping at Primark, so I'll be doing a post soon on what I bought. :)

At lunch time we stopped to eat at a place called Bills which was amazing. If only I could've gotten a little bit of everything on the menu! But I settled with a burger which was cooked to perfection and sweet potato fries and cucumber, carrots and celery with dip as a starter. It was super delicious but unfortunately I didn't have any space for dessert.

Nomnomnomnom.

We then stopped off at a place I had been dying to go to, as they don't have it here in Sweden, called Pearls. They are only in Brighton and Southampton so, lucky for me, I was close to one. Pearls is a small cafe that sells bubble and milk teas, some are cold and some are warm, with tapioca or different flavoured pearls that pop in your mouth. My favourite is the apple green tea, which is cold without the tapioca or flavoured pearls. I would definitely recommend this place if you have a sweet tooth as the teas are pretty sweet.

So many cute shops down Gardner Street!!!

Sorry for the overload of photos. Couldn't decide which ones to keep and which ones to take away.

Hope you enjoyed reading :)

#Have you discovered? ll Blush.

It's been a while since I last wrote a post beauty post, as well as a post from the #haveyoudiscovered series. However, the reason I hadn't written about the other products is because I didn't have a product I was dying to share. So instead of the Brighton post I planned on posting today I present you this weeks #haveyoudiscovered product.

I got this blush a little while ago, not exactly sure when, all I remember is that there was 10% off all blushers in Sephora and I had really wanted one from Benefit Costmetics since I had heard such good reviews. As you can see, it isn't very used as I have used it sparingly and also because most of the time I don't have time to put it on as I'm in a rush. Although I probably will be using it a lot more as summer is approaching.

So, this is a coraly pink blush and comes in a little box which has a magnet to keep it closed and, as you can see in the second photo, it comes with a little mirror, which is super handy, and a little brush. I tested the brush and it was pretty alright, I just thought it was easier to do circle motions using a bigger brush. I absolutely love the colour, it's gorgeous and it is super pigmented so you don't need put much on at all, and it's long lasting. It isn't shimmery which is why I chose this blush, I don't want to sparkle on a daily basis haha.  I think it gives more of a matte effect. Definitely a good pick me up if I want to liven up my skin and I definitely highly recommend it. :)

My unhealthy addiction

Behind all my makeup and girly clothes there is an inner tomboy/nerdy side of me. No it isn't playstation. I am actually horrifically bad when it comes to game consoles oh apart from Nintendo 64' Mario Kart Rainbow Road, haha. It is actually my unhealthy addiction to TV series. So without further a do before I start rambling on and on, I thought I'd share my top four TV series, which are in no particular order.

First up is a series called Suits which is about a guy called Mike who is super smart and has eidetic memory but is also a college drop out. Somehow he ends up at one of the top law firms in New York because he impressed Harvey Specter, the actual lawyer, at the associate interviews at which they only hire people from Harvard. However, he has to keep a secret that only Harvey and his secretary Donna knows: that Mike never went to Harvard. Harvey and Mike then pair up to win cases using Mike's brains and Harvey's powerful reputation. I love this show to bits because of all the drama, Harvey and Mike's wittiness, this other guy called Louis Litt and the relationships that form later on.

I just started watching this series recently and have been loving it. I think I really enjoy series with two main characters, as they will play off each other which makes the show more humorous. So this series is about Nick Burkhardt who is a homicide detective for the Portland Police Department, though little does he know that he is the last of the 'Grimms' which is an ancient line of guardians who protect people from the evil mythological creatures from Grimms fairytales. Together with his partner Hank, he solves these mysteries while also trying to balance his life with his girlfriend. He also teams up with Monroe who is a mythical creature called the 'Blutbad' and helps provide knowledge of the other creatures that Nick encounters in his adventures.

Even though this series came out in 2011, I actually only decided to watch it this year. And all I keep on saying to myself is why didn't I start watching this when it came out. I have whizzed through the first three seasons and have finally caught up and have loved every single episode. So this series is about a power struggle between seven noble families who are fighting for control of the whole mythical land of Westeros. The reason why I like this series so much and why I think it's done really well is because you can never predict what's going to happen. Main characters die left right and centre. There are explicit sex scenes, very gruesome battle scenes and the story line is pretty damn good. Definitely recommend it if you like what I just wrote. But beware this is not for the faint of heart.

Lastly, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Now if you like the Marvel comics and movies then I think you're most definitely are going to be hooked onto this. Long story short it's basically about six agents that have to  try and save the world from supernatural events. They handle strange cases and encounter people with special abilities but at the same time they also have to deal with their own drama in the team.  I'd say it's sort of similar to the show Firefly and is by the same creator so if you liked that I would recommend this too.

Hopefully i've given you some inspiration to start watching them or feeding to your TV series addiction as well. Either way win win. Hope you enjoyed reading :)

P.s Sorry for the tardiness of this post. I have been in the UK exploring which is actually what my next post will be on.

I love me my food

Yesterday I decided to cook one of my favourite home made dishes, so I thought I'd share my recipe and love for food with you all and maybe even inspire you to make this as well. It's a very traditional dish in Sweden, however I gave it a little twist and instead of using normal potatoes I used sweet potatoes.

Scroll down for all the ingredients, how I did everything and mouth watering pictures hehe.

♥ Beef burgers and sweet potatoes with lingonberry sauce.

Prep time roughly 35 minutes.
Cooking time roughly 1 hour.

Ingredients:
Minced beef (1kg)
Sweet potatoes
Jarred beets
Onion
Eggs (x2 small)
Broccoli

Making the burgers:

I put the meat in a large bowl. I cut the onion up and then used a machine to cut them finer, but isn't essential. I then cut up the beets into small squares and put both the beets and onions in with the meat. Then put the two eggs in, this is to help the meat stick when shaping them into burgers.

After mixing all those ingredients together just shape them into burgers. I've made some small and some big. 1kg makes roughly 10 burgers.

Making the sweet potatoes and broccoli:

Peel the potatoes and cut them fine, so they cook faster, then add some oil and garlic all over them to give them a little more flavour. Then pop them onto a dish and then into the oven at 200 degrees celsius. They take roughly 30-35minutes.

Boil a pot of water. Cut up the broccoli into small pieces and then pop them into the pot. Now that's all for the main and onto the salad.

Salad:
Spinach leaves
Tomatoes
Cucumber
Onion
Avocado
Beets

And voila here it is. It took roughly two hours in total to make, but I think it was/is totally worth it.

Hope you enjoyed reading :)

Would love to know what your favourite dish is.
